It seems the standard bio for a young woman in the music business today begins with….She began singing at the age of 4, competed in talent & beauty pageants, performed in local stage productions and so on...
Well all the above can also be said of Ashley Jay with a few noted additions. She got her first taste of a recording studio at the age of 10 while working on children’s musicals for the Christian record label Word and MGM Studio’s sing a long videos. Ashley became a fan of country music at 13 and knew it was her destiny to become a performer. After sending out hundreds of demos to record and management companies in the United States and having them returned unopened or stamped "Unsolicited Material Not Accepted" she and her parents began sending her demos overseas. It was not long before a relatively new label in the United Kingdom showed interest in her first recording project "Living My Own Dream". At fifteen she signed with Swordmaker Records, who repackaged the project under the self-title "Ashley Jay" and was off on her first of two promotional tours of Scotland, Wales & London England where she performed with members of a local Scottish and English group, The Proclaimers. Her single "Make It Hurt" immediately shot to #1 on the Country Music Charts. The album was an instant hit at the line dance clubs and soon she was receiving fan mail with the instructions for line dances to many of her songs
